The SARS Innovation Incubator is looking for a Specialist: Data Analytics to lead data-driven strategies and support digital modernisation efforts.

What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Envisioning Lab, you’ll manage and analyse data to guide SARS innovation initiatives. From developing data models to designing advanced analytics dashboards, your insights will shape the future of public service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse large data sets to generate insights and support innovation
- Build and maintain databases and business models
- Develop predictive models and reporting dashboards (Power BI, SQL, Python, R)
- Identify trends and interpret complex patterns using statistical tools
- Maintain and improve data analytics solutions across business units
- Collaborate with internal teams to support digital transformation projects
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security protocols
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Informatics, Computer Science, IT, or Statistics
- 8-10 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or BI
- 3-4 years of experience at operational specialist level
Option 2:
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 15 years of related experience, including 3-4 years in a specialist role
Required Technical Expertise
- SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, Excel, SPSS, SAS
- Data cleaning, modelling, analysis, and visualisation
- Knowledge of data warehouse design and architecture
- Strong programming and reporting skills
- Microsoft Office (Advanced level)
- Understanding of business intelligence methodologies
