About the Role
The Gate Administrator ensures efficient access control, guest interaction, and financial transaction management at the park’s entrance. This position is crucial for maintaining a positive visitor experience and upholding SANParks’ operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all guests, suppliers, and staff entering the park.
- Maintain access control by registering visitors, vehicles, and personnel accurately.
- Assist in ensuring guest security and safety in collaboration with park officials.
- Provide visitors with information about park facilities, activities, and Wild Card loyalty programmes.
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow at park entry and exit points.
- Handle payments, issue receipts, and balance daily cash transactions.
- Maintain accurate records and daily statistical reports.
- Respond to guest calls after hours and ensure assistance is dispatched promptly.
- Ensure adherence to SANParks’ uniform policy, customer service standards, and communication protocols.
- Work early and late shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Standard 10 certificate (or equivalent).
- 1-2 years of experience in front office, gate operations, or a similar administrative position.
- Proficient communication skills in English and at least one other Western Cape official language.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Added Advantage
- National Diploma in Tourism or Hotel Management.
- Certificate in Security Services.
- Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, or customer service environments.

Remuneration and Benefits
The remuneration package includes a basic salary aligned with a Paterson B2 job grade, plus allowances and benefits as defined in the SANParks HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service.
