South African Reserve Bank: Work Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) 2025

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB), in partnership with the South African Bank Note Company (SABN), is offering a Work Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) to help address South Africa’s shortage of technical and engineering skills.

This programme gives hands-on work experience to students working toward trade qualifications or national diplomas.

Location: Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg, South Africa
Closing Date: 8 May 2025

About the Programme

This programme offers practical work exposure for two groups of learners:

Artisan Learners

Applicants from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges who have at least an N4 certificate. These learners require 36 months of practical training in preparation for a trade qualification or trade test.

Eligible fields:

  • Electrical
  • Electronics
  • Mechanical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Carpentry

Technician Learners

Applicants from Universities of Technology who have completed at least an S4 qualification. These learners need 12 months of practical experience to complete their national diploma.

Eligible fields:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Participants will be placed at SARB Head Office in Pretoria, the SABN in Pretoria North, or one of SARB’s cash centres in Cape Town, Durban, or Johannesburg. A stipend will be provided for the duration of the programme.

Minimum Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be enrolled in or have completed the required N4 or S4 qualification in one of the listed fields
  • Require practical experience to complete a trade test or diploma
