The Sishen Iron Ore Company – Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is inviting students to apply for its 2026 bursary programme. The bursary supports youth from Northern Cape and Limpopo beneficiary communities who want to study at a public university, university of technology or TVET college in South Africa.
SIOC-CDT is committed to funding talented students who demonstrate academic potential, commitment to their communities, and financial need.

What the Bursary Covers
This is a fully funded bursary that includes:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Prescribed learning materials
- Laptop
- Monthly stipend
- Assistive devices (for students with disabilities)
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Reside in or originate from one of the following beneficiary municipalities:
- Gamagara (Northern Cape)
- Ga-Segonyana (Northern Cape)
- Tsantsabane (Northern Cape)
- Joe Morolong (Northern Cape)
- Thabazimbi (Limpopo)
- Be in Matric or have completed Matric
- Study full-time or part-time toward undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications
- Have 65% minimum average in latest results
- Be accepted or provisionally accepted at a public tertiary institution
- Have a household income below R600 000 per year
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Required Documents
All applications must include:
- Certified ID copy (not older than 3 months)
- Certified Matric results or certificate
- Latest academic transcripts (if already studying)
- Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance
- Proof of residence (municipal bill/affidavit/councillor letter)
- Parents’/guardians’ income proof (payslips or affidavit)
- Parents’/guardians’ 3 months bank statements
- Medical certificate (if disabled)
