City of Johannesburg 18-Month Student Internship Programme 2025

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), through its Group Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (CRUM) Department, is offering an 18-month paid internship to help qualifying students gain hands-on administrative and stakeholder engagement experience in a public service environment.

This internship forms part of the City’s effort to support students who need practical exposure to complete or enhance their qualifications.

Internship Role: Administration Intern – Citizen Relationship and Urban Management
Location: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
Closing Date: Thursday, 22 May 2025
Monthly Stipend: R10 109.86 (no additional benefits)
Department: Group Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (CRUM)

Duration: 18 months

What You’ll Learn

As an intern, you will support the Integrated Service Delivery and Stakeholder Interface Unit, where your duties will include:

  • Providing administrative support for service delivery initiatives
  • Assisting with the coordination of stakeholder engagements
  • Helping prepare qualitative and quantitative reports
  • Participating in public communication and internal interface activities

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Completed Grade 12/Matric
  • Hold a National Diploma or Degree (minimum 360 credits) in any of the following:
    • Public Administration
    • Business Administration
    • Public Relations
    • Journalism
    • International Relations
    • Marketing and Communications
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Be a resident of the City of Johannesburg

Required Skills and Competencies

You must demonstrate:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent time management, coordination, and record-keeping
  • Attention to detail with the ability to handle information accurately
  • A professional and ethical approach to work
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with others
