The Client Coverage Internship Programme 2026 offers penultimate-year students the chance to work with major corporates, financial institutions, governments, and investors while learning how large banking relationships are managed in practice.
This internship is designed for students who want direct exposure to corporate and investment banking before graduation.
The programme runs as a structured summer internship and focuses on real work, team collaboration, and professional development. You will not be observing from the sidelines. You will support live client work, learn core banking concepts, and understand how decisions are made inside a global bank.
About the Client Coverage Internship Programme
The Client Coverage Internship Programme forms part of the Corporate and Investment Banking function. Client Coverage teams manage long-term relationships with clients and coordinate solutions across lending, trade finance, cash management, capital markets, and risk products.
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced banking professionals. You will learn how client needs are assessed, how deals are structured, and how different banking teams work together to deliver outcomes.
The programme runs for 10 weeks during the summer period. It includes structured learning, on-the-job exposure, mentoring, and networking with senior leaders.
Internship Structure and Learning Exposure
The programme is built around practical learning. You will be introduced to banking products, systems, and processes through a structured induction.
During the internship, you will receive:
- Formal orientation and induction sessions
- Classroom learning on banking products and platforms
- Hands-on work with live client portfolios
- On-the-job coaching from managers and team members
- Support from mentors and assigned buddies
- Opportunities to attend networking events and talks
- Exposure to community and social impact initiatives
The internship is designed to help you understand both technical banking work and professional workplace expectations.
Teams You May Work In
Interns are placed into one of two main Client Coverage areas based on skills and assessment outcomes.
Corporate Coverage
This team works with multinational companies, large local businesses, and mid-market clients. You will gain exposure to cash management, trade finance, lending, capital markets, and advisory services. The focus is on understanding client needs and coordinating solutions across banking teams.
Financial Institutions Coverage
This team works with banks, insurers, asset managers, public sector institutions, and investment firms. You will be exposed to financing structures, risk management, liquidity solutions, and investment-related services.
Both teams work closely with product specialists and risk teams.
Roles and Responsibilities During the Internship
Interns typically support one of the following role streams.
Assistant Relationship Management Support
You will assist senior relationship managers with client coordination, deal preparation, internal approvals, and account planning. You will work with multiple stakeholders and help identify opportunities across client portfolios.
Credit and Risk Analysis Support
You will assist with financial analysis, credit assessments, industry research, and risk reviews. You will learn how banking risk is assessed and how decisions are documented and monitored.
Across both roles, you will be expected to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with team members.
