What You’ll Do in This Role
This teller position is not just about handling cash—it’s about building relationships and being the face of Absa’s branch banking service.
Cash & Transaction Handling
- Process withdrawals, deposits, payments, and other financial instruments accurately.
- Balance your till at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Report fraud indicators and follow strict cash-handling and risk management procedures.
- Capture and authorize financial transactions in real time using banking systems.
Customer Engagement & Service
- Educate walk-in clients on banking options including digital banking, mobile apps, and ATM services.
- Provide expert guidance on transaction procedures and account services.
- Handle customer inquiries and refer complex cases to branch leadership.
- Promote usage of self-service tools for faster, secure banking.
Cross-Selling & Financial Product Promotion
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable Absa products (e.g. savings, credit cards, investment accounts).
- Refer qualified sales leads to personal bankers and other specialists.
- Support campaigns on financial literacy, digital banking, and savings products.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure adherence to internal security protocols and audit standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and accurate records of all transactions.
- Escalate suspicious activities or security concerns to the branch compliance officer.

Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- FETC (Further Education and Training Certificate) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies
- Experience:
- Prior experience in a financial services or banking environment is advantageous but not mandatory
