Anglo American is offering an exciting opportunity for a Data Collector at Kumba Iron Ore. The primary purpose of this role is to collect vibration data from various production machines and equipment, as well as to test and report any missing or damaged vibration sensors and cables.

Job Description
As a Data Collector, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Adhere to all health and safety practices and support housekeeping to ensure compliance.
- Actively participate in SLAMs (Safety, Life, and Management), HPHs (Health, Safety, and Environment), relevant Risk Assessments, and close-out of Safety Actions.
Performance and Delivery
- Data Collection:
- Collect vibration data from production machines using a data logger.
- Download scheduled data collection routes from the vibration database into the data logger.
- Collect data under normal working conditions to maintain integrity.
- Report damaged vibration sensors or accessories weekly.
- Inspect the physical condition of production equipment during data collection.
- Report any deviations or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Assist with data collection when team members are absent.
- Verify, clean, and maintain vibration data loggers for functionality.
- Identify and address incorrect readings or defective sensors.
- Download collected data back into the vibration database.
Pre-Shift Inspections
- Perform pre-shift inspections of vehicles, equipment, machines, and components for safety and functionality.
- Monitor equipment performance against standards and report non-conformances to supervisors.
Assistance
- Provide proactive support to team members and supervisors in data collection, equipment inspections, and addressing immediate issues during shifts.
Qualifications
- Education: Grade 12/N3 Technical.
- Driver’s License: Valid South African driver’s license.
- Certifications: Vibration CAT 1 certificate (advantageous).
Technical Experience
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in vibration collection, preferably in a mining environment.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
- Understanding of vehicle and equipment components and their functions.
- Familiarity with manufacturer standards and company policies.
