Miner General Positions Available at Sibanye-Stillwater Marikana Operation

Sibanye-Stillwater is hiring four permanent Miner General staff members at its Platinum Marikana operation. This opportunity is open to both internal and external applicants who meet the job requirements and demonstrate a commitment to safety, performance, and teamwork.

Location: Platinum Marikana (K3 Shaft), North West Province
Closing Date: 30 April 2025

About the Role

As a Miner General, you will be responsible for the safe and productive execution of mining tasks within the assigned area. The role includes a mix of blasting, safety inspections, planning, and team supervision. This position requires solid underground mining experience and a strong understanding of safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • A valid blasting certificate
  • AET Level 3 or Grade 9 to Grade 12
  • Competent A certificate as a Stoper or Developer
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Medically fit for underground work
  • A clear security screening record

Additional Requirements

  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in underground mining
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a team leader in a mining environment

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Risk (SHERQ)

  • Enforce the use of PPE and safe work practices
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and training campaigns
  • Perform Safe Behaviour Observations and Planned Task Observations

Production and Planning

  • Carry out daily re-entry inspections and blast preparations
  • Accurately mark reef bands using geological reports
  • Safely charge and blast mining faces
  • Plan and coordinate tasks to meet production targets

Administration and Compliance

  • Complete reports and documentation accurately
  • Plan and manage shift schedules and leave cycles
  • Maintain compliance with mining regulations and company policies

People Management

  • Provide coaching and hands-on training to subordinates
  • Monitor and manage performance
  • Ensure fair task allocation and maintain high team morale
