The Limpopo Department of Health is recruiting unemployed youth and entry-level job seekers into its EPWP Food Services General Worker Training Program.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • A National Diploma in Catering or Hospitality Management (TVET, NQF Level 6)
  • Computer literacy
  • Basic physical fitness (ability to lift, carry and push trolleys and heavy objects)
  • Knowledge of food safety practices, including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards
  • Understanding of food preparation, hygiene, dishwashing, and service line procedures
  • Strong communication and time management skills

Key Responsibilities and Skills Development Areas

As a Food Services Trainee, you will receive training and practical exposure in:

  • Food preparation for normal and therapeutic diets
  • Portioning and plating food according to hospital diet lists
  • Using commercial kitchen equipment like dishwashers and trolleys
  • Storing, packing, and labelling of food and dietary supplies
  • Maintaining hygiene in kitchen workspaces, food service units, and ward trolleys
  • Learning compliance with hospital food safety protocols and cleaning schedules
  • Team-based work under supervision in a public health facility environment
