Youth careers: FNB invites applications for 2026 Private Banking graduate intake

Sandton, South AfricaFirst National Bank (FNB) has opened applications for its 2026 Private Banking & Advice (PB&A) Graduate Programme, offering a pathway into one of the most competitive areas in South African banking. The programme is targeted at high-achieving finance graduates who want to build careers in wealth management, investment strategy and private client advisory.

According to FNB, the PB&A Graduate Programme is exclusive and contract-based, forming part of the bank’s talent pipeline strategy for future Private Advisors and professionals responsible for managing the financial portfolios of high-net-worth clients.

Talent pipeline for elite advisors

The bank says the programme has been designed to combine structured learning with practical exposure, giving participants hands-on experience through team projects, client simulations, market research and high-level financial planning. Graduates will also receive mentorship from senior private bankers inside FirstRand Group.

Successful participants will be assessed throughout the 12-month programme, with top performers being considered for permanent appointments within FNB Private Banking.

  • Shadow experienced financial advisors
  • Be trained in wealth structuring and investment planning
  • Work on client portfolio assessments
  • Engage with financial compliance and ethics training
  • Contribute to case studies and advisory simulations

The programme is also expected to include sessions on risk advisory, estate planning, portfolio diversification and behavioural finance.

Recruitment and talent pool building

FNB clarified that this recruitment cycle is also aimed at building a long-term talent pool, meaning response times may vary during the application process. The programme is not open to the general public, but only to graduates in financial disciplines.

The closing date for applications is 28 November 2025, but candidates are encouraged to apply early, as late submissions will not be accepted.
