Postgrad bursaries are available in support of Sasol and South Africa’s energy and circular economy transition. No need for a formal project proposal, but applicants must know their area of interest in:
Chemical Engineering:
- Fluid Dynamics
- Process Modelling
- Reactor Technology
- Separation Technology
- Thermodynamics
- Mathematical/Statistical Modelling
Chemistry:
- Advanced Analytical Chemistry (Spectroscopy, Chromatography)
- Catalysis / Polymer Science
- Environmental Science (Air, Water, Waste – with focus on dispersion modelling)
Other Strategic Fields:
- Cybersecurity
- Applied Mathematics
- Statistics
Shortlisted postgrad candidates will work with Sasol experts to finalise research topics.
Who Can Apply?
You must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be pursuing full-time studies at a recognised South African university
- Meet the minimum academic criteria
- Apply only once (duplicate applications will be disqualified)
- Not register at distance-learning institutions like UNISA
- Not apply for hybrid/combined degrees, e.g. BSc Environmental & Geology or Mechatronics
Important Notes Before You Apply
- Use your most recent final results (e.g. Grade 11 if currently in Grade 12).
- Bursary offers are conditional—you must maintain similar performance in your final results.
- Incorrect or missing information = application disqualified.
- Bursaries are limited and highly competitive. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee selection.
