Implats Work Integrated Learning Programme 2025

Impala Platinum Refineries (Implats), based in Springs, Gauteng, is offering a 12-month Work Integrated Learning Programme for students in Chemical Engineering and Analytical Chemistry. This programme provides workplace experience required to complete a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) and is ideal for students who have completed their theoretical studies but need in-service training to graduate.

Chemical Engineering Work Integrated Learnership (x7 Positions)

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Gain hands-on industry experience in chemical engineering operations
  • Work under the guidance of experienced mentors and coaches
  • Perform duties aligned with your institution’s practical training requirements
  • Contribute to refinery operations at the Base Metal Refinery (BMR) or Precious Metal Refinery (PMR)

What You Need:

  • Completed all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • Good understanding of basic chemical engineering concepts
  • Medically fit for industrial working environments (BMR or PMR)

Analytical Chemistry Work Integrated Learnership (x3 Positions)

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Get exposure to real lab environments in the mining and refinery industry
  • Carry out routine analytical procedures and chemical testing
  • Receive mentorship while fulfilling your academic institution’s work-integrated training requirements
  • Work at either the Base Metal or Precious Metal Refinery

What You Need:

  • Completed all theoretical modules of a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
  • Good understanding of basic chemistry concepts and lab safety
  • Medically fit for working in analytical and chemical testing environments
