Pick n Pay, one of South Africa’s leading supermarket groups, is seeking a Buyers Assistant to join its dynamic retail team in Kensington. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organised professional who wants to support category buyers in driving sales, margins, and product availability across various categories.
As a Buyers Assistant, you’ll provide critical administrative and analytical support to the buying team, helping to optimise product performance and ensuring smooth operations between suppliers, distribution centres, and stores.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the buyer in compiling and executing category plans aligned with company strategy.
- Collate, prepare, and analyse statistical and exception reports.
- Investigate anomalies in reports and take corrective action.
- Prepare vendor take-on forms and verify supporting documents.
- Attend supplier negotiations with buyers.
- Monitor and manage execution of buying contracts and SLAs.
- Ensure PnP article master data is aligned with external systems.
- Review and communicate aged stock and exit stock reports.
- Monitor performance of newly listed products and update the buyer.
- Assist with product life cycle management and emergency pricing.
- Support customer care teams with product-related queries.
- Track rebates and ensure targets are achieved.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree (preferably in retail, supply chain, or business management).
- 1–2 years’ retail experience, ideally in a buying or merchandising environment.
- Proficiency in SAP, BW, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
- Advanced Excel skills (reporting and analysis).
