Role Overview
The Fire Fighter will respond to and manage fire-related incidents, hazardous substance emergencies, and rescue operations. The role includes performing basic medical care, maintaining firefighting equipment, and assisting with fire prevention training and safety audits under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire, rescue, and hazardous material incidents
- Conduct emergency and humanitarian operations under supervision
- Administer first aid, resuscitation, and basic medical care on site
- Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and breathing apparatus
- Participate in fire drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness training
- Conduct fire prevention and safety awareness programmes
- Inspect facilities and equipment for compliance with health and safety standards
- Complete digital and written incident reports and logs
- Support training initiatives for company personnel in fire response procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- IFSAC-accredited NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification
- Minimum of 2 years’ firefighting experience
- Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence (advanced driving advantageous)
- Physically and medically fit
- First Aid Level 1-3 certification
- HAZMAT awareness or operational training preferred
- EMT certification advantageous
- Knowledge of fire prevention systems, classes, and chemistry of fire
- No criminal record
