About the Role
The Retail Shop Assistant supports daily store operations by helping customers, managing stock, and maintaining merchandising standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in tools, machinery, and DIY equipment, along with excellent communication and sales skills. You’ll play a key role in ensuring customers have a professional and helpful experience in-store.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with product selection and advice.
- Handle sales transactions and ensure accurate cash handling.
- Perform merchandising and stock control duties.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment.
- Support team members with inventory counts and general store operations.
- Provide excellent customer service and after-sales support.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 essential.
- Previous retail or hardware sales experience preferred.
- Technical knowledge of tools and machinery is advantageous.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, honest, and a strong team player.
- Able to work Monday-Friday (08:00-17:00) and Saturdays (08:00-13:00).
