Medical Officer Grade 1 to 3 (Internal Medicine)

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate experience in Internal Medicine. Proven experience in procedural skills, appropriate to the field of Internal Medicine. Proven knowledge of public health policies, guidelines and related prescript to manage resources effectively. Good professional attitude. Communication skills.
  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Practitioner.
  • Grade 1: None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA-qualified employees. - One (1) year’s relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of Five (5) appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA-qualified employees. - A minimum of six (6) relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign-qualified employees, of whom required to perform community service required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees.
  • A minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
  • Participate in the after-hours call system and perform outreach in the Paarl Hospital ecosystem. Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license, willingness, and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient and affordable high-quality Internal Medicine care to patients served by the hospital and the Rural West Ecosystem, ensuring both productivity and excellence.
  • Provide service professionally and ethically.
  • To serve as role model and clinical mentor to junior doctors and associated clinical staff by setting an example of an exemplary medical practitioner.
  • Establish a supportive learning environment for junior staff and students at undergraduate level.
  • Provide Outreach and Support services to the Rural West Ecosystem.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with patients, nursing staff, colleagues, and referral services at both district and tertiary levels.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary medical reports and documentation to fulfill legal and administrative requirements.
  • Undertake the necessary Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to uphold your registration status with the HPCSA.
