The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT), in partnership with Nedbank Arts Affinity and MTN Foundation South Africa, is inviting applications for the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Programme for the 2026 academic year.
This prestigious arts scholarship not only funds your undergraduate studies at any accredited South African university but also connects you to exclusive training, national exposure, and industry mentorship.

What the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship Covers
- Full tuition funding up to R300,000
- Participation in a 6-month virtual mentorship and workshop program
- All expenses paid for the finals week in Johannesburg

- Long-term growth opportunities in the visual and performing arts sectors
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the 2025/2026 Nyoloha Scholarship intake, you must:
- Be a South African citizen aged 17 to 25
- Be currently in Grade 12 or have completed Matric with university exemption
- Intend to study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts (Dance, Singing, Acting) or Digital/Visual Arts in 2026
- Demonstrate strong artistic talent and financial need
- Have no prior tertiary qualification in any arts discipline
- Be unemployed and not involved in any professional artistic work
- Be available from June to October 2025 to fully participate in the program
- Not have participated in the ACT Nyoloha Scholarship 2024 finals
How the Program Works
- Workshops & Training:
If shortlisted, you will join bi-weekly online workshops from 7 June to 16 August 2025. These sessions will cover industry insight, personal development, and professional skills. - Finals Week in Johannesburg:
From 28 September to 5 October 2025, finalists will attend a fully funded, in-person programme including rehearsals, masterclasses, and a Gala Night performance or exhibition on 2 and 4 October 2025. - One Winner:
A final recipient will be awarded the full undergraduate scholarship to begin studies in 2026.
What You’ll Need to Apply
Documents Required:
- Certified South African ID
- Matric results or latest academic transcript
- A tertiary institution acceptance letter (or proof of application)
- A recent portrait photo (head and shoulders)
- Signed consent form (for minors)
For Performing Arts Applicants:
- A 2-minute video audition in your chosen discipline:
- Singing: Showcase vocal range and expression
- Dance: Exhibit technical ability and style
- Acting: Perform a monologue (choose from ACT’s list)
For Visual/Digital Arts Applicants:
- 4 original artworks
- A 70–100-word bio
- A 70–100-word artist statement explaining your portfolio
