The UK issues a Student Route Visa (formerly Tier 4 Student Visa) for full-time students.
Step 1: Get a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Your UK university must issue a CAS number, which confirms your acceptance.
Step 2: Prove Your Financial Ability
You must show you have enough funds to cover tuition and living expenses for at least one academic year. This is usually around £1,334 per month for London and £1,023 per month for other areas.
Step 3: Pass an English Language Test
If required, take an approved IELTS or TOEFL test.
Step 4: Apply Online for a Student Visa
Submit your application via the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) website and pay the visa fee of £490.
Step 5: Provide Biometrics & Attend an Interview
Schedule an appointment at a UK Visa Application Centre to submit fingerprints, photographs, and supporting documents.
Step 6: Pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
You must pay an IHS fee to access UK healthcare, which costs £776 per year.
Once approved, you can travel to the UK up to one month before your course starts.
