Key Purpose of the Role
You will be responsible for leading and managing all shift operations related to boiler and essential site services. This includes coordinating maintenance, driving safety initiatives, and supporting critical projects within the plant environment.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Lead, guide and manage all shift operations and maintenance teams
- Maintain clear communication and uphold discipline and safety standards
- Manage essential services including:
- Water supply and discharge
- Compressed air systems
- Electrical systems
- Water supply and discharge
- Coordinate boiler cleaning, shutdowns, outages, and inspections
- Support the Boiler Maintenance Foreman during shutdowns and key maintenance projects
- Conduct routine inspections and submit defect reports
- Ensure compliance with ISO policies and SHEQ standards
- Participate in health, safety, and environmental initiatives with the team
- Oversee and ensure timely coal offloading
- Log incidents, near misses, and safety risks accurately
Minimum Requirements
- Matric, with completed Boiler Operations modules (ITC) or equivalent
- Trade Test (advantageous)
- 1–2 years’ experience in boiler operations (training will be provided)
- Strong time management, communication, and team leadership skills
- Computer literate with solid understanding of MS Office
- Physically and mentally fit to work in a high-pressure industrial setting
- Willing to work flexibly to meet operational demands
- Strong ethical standards and a proactive work approach
