The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is offering a Graduate in Training (GIT) Programme in Aeronautical Engineering. This 12-month opportunity is designed to equip you with technical, research, and innovation skills that contribute to the development of South Africa’s defence, security, and aviation sectors.

What You’ll Do
As a Graduate in Training, you will be immersed in research and innovation projects under the Defence and Security Cluster. You’ll work alongside experts in aerospace systems and contribute to:
- Design and analysis of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)
- Aero-structure design and simulation
- Programming and algorithm development using Python, C++, and MATLAB
- Development and testing of technology demonstrator aircraft
- Application of simulation models and engineering analysis tools
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this internship, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- A strong academic track record
- A passion for aviation, aircraft design, or aerospace technology
- Proficiency in engineering software and programming languages (Python, C++, MATLAB)
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel for research and client site visits
- South African citizenship (must be eligible for security clearance)
