Job Description
As an Over-the-Counter Assistant, you will support the Department of Despatch by assisting in the picking, packing, and distribution of study materials for students who opt for counter collection during registration.
Responsibilities
- Handle the picking, packing, and shipping of pre-packed study material parcels.
- Remove study materials not collected within three days unless alternative arrangements are made.
- Record details of study material collected by students, including tracking who collected what and in what quantities.
- Provide support for other warehouse operations as needed with appropriate training.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Qualifications
Education and Certification:
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
- Must currently be a registered UNISA student.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of handling pressure and meeting deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and concentration.
- Willingness to learn new processes and systems.
- Flexibility to work overtime if required.
Recommendations:
- Knowledge of general supply chain processes and warehouse operations.
- Completion of at least 10 modules at UNISA.
