About the SLP Internship Programme
The Social and Labour Plan Internship Programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic studies and real mining operations. Graduates gain direct exposure to operational environments while working alongside experienced professionals.
All internships are full time and include a monthly stipend. Employment Equity principles apply, with preference given to local community residents.

Key Responsibilities
Depending on the discipline, interns may be required to:
- Support mining and engineering operations
- Assist with process analysis and efficiency improvement
- Participate in technical reporting and data analysis
- Support financial, auditing, and document preparation processes
- Assist with environmental, health, and safety compliance
- Work alongside qualified professionals in underground and surface operations
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must hold a relevant qualification aligned to the internship applied for, including but not limited to:
- Geology or Geological Sciences
- Mining Engineering
- Mine Planning
- Chemical Engineering
- Finance or Accounting
- Mine Surveying
- Environmental Science or Environmental Management
- Occupational Health or Occupational Hygiene
- Rock Engineering
- Health and Safety or Safety Management
National Diplomas, Bachelor’s Degrees, BTech qualifications, and Honours Degrees are accepted depending on the role.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Unemployed graduate
- Medically fit for mining environments
- Willing to work on site and in remote locations
- Able to pass security vetting
