Netcare is seeking a motivated and passionate Pharmacist Interns to join the pharmacy team at Netcare Greenacres Hospital, Netcare Rehabilitation Hospital, Netcare Pretoria East Hospital and Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.
This is a full-time paid internship designed to provide practical experience under the supervision of registered pharmacists in a hospital environment. Ideal for final-year pharmacy graduates completing their professional internship.
To gain comprehensive practical experience in both hospital and retail pharmacy environments, while delivering safe, ethical and high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Patient Care
- Assist with prescription interpretation and dispensing under supervision
- Counsel patients on medicine usage, interactions and side effects
- Handle S1–S6 scheduled medications according to legislation
- Assist with compounding, repacking and medicine preparation
Pharmaceutical Operations
- Manage ward stock and ethical stock control
- Assist with cyclical stock counts and expiry management
- Participate in Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and chemotherapy support
- Liaise with doctors, nurses and medical staff
Clinical Support
- Participate in clinical ward rounds when required
- Respond to medication-related queries
- Support health awareness campaigns
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with SA Pharmacy Council regulations
- Participate in audits and risk management activities
- Maintain pharmaceutical records and documentation
