How DPSA Vacancies Work
The Department of Public Service and Administration publishes the Public Service Vacancy Circular every week. This circular lists vacancies from national and provincial government departments across South Africa.
DPSA does not hire applicants directly. Each vacancy is managed by the department advertising the post.
Here is how the process works:
• DPSA publishes the weekly vacancy circular
• Departments list available posts with reference numbers
• Applicants apply directly to the listed department
• Applications must be submitted before the closing date
Important things to know before applying:
• Each job has its own reference number
• Applications must use the Z83 form
• Supporting documents are required
• Late applications are not accepted
If you need more information about a job, you must contact the advertising department, not DPSA.
Download Z83 Application Form
All DPSA vacancies require the official Z83 application form.
Use this form for all DPSA and public service job applications.
• Mandatory for all government vacancies
• New version effective from 01 January 2021
• Old Z83 forms are not accepted
Only the new Z83 form (effective from 01 January 2021) is accepted.
Download below:
• New Z83 Application Form (PDF)
• Editable Z83 Application Form (Word)
Make sure you complete all sections of the form clearly and honestly.
Avoid Scams
Dis-chem does not charge any fee to apply. All applications are made via official e-recruitment portals, email or physical location submission. Do not send money, and avoid people offering jobs for a fee regardless of their capacity. If you are unsure, only trust information from DPSA official site.
FAQ: DPSA Vacancies
What are DPSA vacancies?
DPSA vacancies are jobs advertised by national and provincial government departments through the Public Service Vacancy Circular. The Department of Public Service and Administration publishes the circular, but each department recruits independently.
How often are DPSA vacancies published?
DPSA vacancies are published weekly, except during December. New posts usually appear once a week in the Public Service Vacancy Circular.
Where do I apply for DPSA vacancies?
You do not apply to DPSA directly. Applications must be sent to the specific department advertising the post, using the contact details listed in the vacancy.
Is the Z83 form required for all DPSA jobs?
Yes. All DPSA vacancies require the official Z83 application form. Your completed Z83 must be submitted with a detailed CV. Supporting documents are usually requested later in the process.
Can I apply online for DPSA vacancies?
Some departments allow email or online submissions, while others still require physical delivery. Always follow the application method stated in the vacancy advert.
What happens if I miss the closing date?
Late applications are not accepted. Government departments strictly enforce closing dates, even if the delay is only one day.
Does DPSA charge any fees to apply?
No. DPSA vacancies are free to apply for. Any request for payment is a scam and should be ignored.
Who do I contact for questions about a DPSA vacancy?
All enquiries must be directed to the department advertising the post. DPSA does not answer questions about individual vacancies.
