The Johannesburg Roads Agency is currently seeking applications for General Worker positions. This role involves various responsibilities related to road maintenance and construction.

Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your duties will include:
- Directing traffic around hazards or work sites, setting out temporary road signs, traffic cones, and barricades.
- Building and/or repairing concrete kerbing that forms an edge between the pavement and the roadway.
- Working on building and/or repairing stormwater Kerb Inlets (KIs).
- Assisting crane operators in pulling concrete slabs when necessary.
- Ensuring KIs are cleaned and unblocked when required.
- Clearing earth channels/open channels and cleaning appropriate tools.
- Performing manual labor tasks such as digging ditches, cleaning and installing culverts, removing debris from roadways, and repairing potholes.
- Installing stormwater pipes and working on building/repairing road manholes and speed humps.
- Working on tarred and/or gravel surfaces using relevant tools and machinery for resurfacing, deep patching, skin patching, road marking, and crack sealing.
- Trimming trees, shrubs, and other plants; mowing, cutting, stacking, chipping vegetation; hauling debris; loading and applying sand and gravel to roads.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 10 or NQF equivalent.
- Experience: Six (6) months’ experience in handling road construction maintenance and/or building machinery or equipment.
