Cost Accountant

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Accounting
  • Qualification in Cost & Management Accounting (Diploma/Degree)
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of inventory control, stock management, and cost systems
  • Ability to analyse financial and sales data and produce meaningful reports
  • Understanding of pricing, costing models, and profitability analysis
  • Familiarity with accounts payable processes (PO, GRN, accruals)
  • Awareness of food industry trends and market dynamics
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams
  • Maintain and analyse cost data for financial reporting and decision-making
  • Prepare cost sheets and determine product pricing and profitability
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) with product costing
  • Compare actual vs standard manufacturing costs and report variances
  • Monitor and evaluate production performance and cost efficiency
  • Analyse cost drivers such as raw materials, labour, and production methods
  • Prepare regular reports on financial performance and cost trends
  • Maintain and manage the cost accounting system
  • Assist with month-end processes, stock control and inventory counts
  • Maintain the cost accounting system and ensure data accuracy
