Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate. Candidates with Control and Instrumentation certifications and/or an Electrical Trade Test will receive preference. At least 2 years' experience in control system integration, PLC programming, and SCADA programming and development.
Responsibilities
- Senwes, a leading agricultural company, is looking for a skilled Control and Instrumentation Technician to join our Engineering and Property Assets Department.
- The purpose of this role is to install, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems and instrumentation in industrial environments to ensure the accurate, safe, and efficient operation of equipment and processes.
- In this position, you will be responsible for: Responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and control system faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Diagnosing and resolving faults in control systems, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation equipment using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
- Performing emergency repairs on critical systems and field instruments, including temperature, pressure, and flow sensors.
- Conducting routine inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Developing and following maintenance schedules for key assets, including sensors, actuators, and control loops.
- Monitoring control system performance, analysing system data, and recommending improvements to reduce unplanned downtime and improve system reliability.
- Assisting with system upgrades, modifications, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and automation performance.
- Participating in the design, commissioning, testing, and implementation of new control and instrumentation projects.
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, maintenance records, calibration reports, and technical documentation for control systems and instrumentation.
- Collaborating with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to support automation solutions, continuous improvement initiatives, and safe working practices.
