Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ Experience in financial risk management within a Treasury environment.
  • Proven exposure to liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange, credit, and market risk analysis.
  • Advantageous / Desirable o Postgraduate qualification or progress toward professional certification in finance or risk management. o Knowledge and Primary Duties Identify, analyse, and evaluate financial risks including liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange, credit, and market risks.
  • Monitor economic and financial market trends (local and global) and assess their impact on Treasury operations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Treasury-specific risk mitigation strategies and policies unique to Rand Water’s needs.
  • Analyze financial data and trends within the Treasury Department to identify emerging risks and recommend appropriate risk management actions.
  • Collaborate with other Treasury Offices to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, stress testing, and scenario analysis to evaluate potential adverse impacts.
  • Monitor risk exposures, limits, and breaches and report findings to the Senior Treasury Manager.
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring compliance with internal controls, PFMA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform quantitative analysis using financial and market data to support risk measurement and decision-making.
  • Maintain and validate treasury risk models, methodologies, and scenario analysis tools.
  • Analyse interest rate movements, currency fluctuations, and other market indicators affecting Treasury portfolios.
  • Assess and evaluate financial risks and their potential impact on investment portfolios, investment strategies, and other treasury activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for management decision-making.
  • Provide operational and technical support for treasury management systems, and financial risk management systems.
  • Assist with maintain system configurations, access controls, instrument set-ups, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to enhance the functionality and efficiency of financial systems within the Treasury department.
  • Train Treasury users on systems, processes, and controls to ensure effective and compliant system usage.
