Occupational Therapist Grade 1 to 3

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license. Willingness to rotate within the Sub-Structure and perform relief duties.
  • Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of RSA qualified employees.
  • 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of SA qualified employees.
  • A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of SA qualified employees.
  • A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain a high standard of professionalism. Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team with excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills Innovative and analytical thinking and the ability to initiate, coordinate, manage and sustain programs, (Knowledge of Community Orientated Primary Care), sound knowledge of relevant national, provincial legislation and Health Care
  • 2030. Computer literate in MS Office (Excel, Word and Power point) and MS Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of optimal outcomes-based interventions to patients in the WCTBC (Sonstraal and IDH) according to occupational therapy principles and protocols.
  • Mobility and assistive device services rendered in the facility, to be involved in research projects at the institution.
  • Facilitation of training for health personnel, clients, their families, volunteers and inter-departmental personnel, liaise and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative tasks relating to department and skills development and training for Occupational Therapist.
