Medical Specialist: Grade 1 to 3 (Internal Medicine) (4 Sessions) (Contract until 30 April 2029)

Minimum Requirements
- Strong ethical principles and relevant clinical and counselling skills.
- Computer literacy Leadership-, interpersonal- and organisational skills Ability to work as a specialist physician at a Large Regional Hospital attached to a teaching institution.
- Ability to work and make clinical decisions independently.
- Ability to manage a broad spectrum of medical cases competently.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience in supervision of staff and resources and proven experience in principles of planning, organizing and implementation.
- Ability to provide leadership and management within the Department of Medicine.
- Excellent individual coping and interpersonal skills and ability to perform well within a multidisciplinary team context.
- Enthusiasm to attend and present training and educational courses to broaden clinical and managerial skills and knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, hospital procedures and policies.
- in the management of critically ill patients in intensive care.
- Relevant experience in Internal Medicine as a treating Specialist.
- Valid Driver’s licence. Willingness to work weekend shifts.
- Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA (or a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of a foreign qualified employee) as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical services and comprehensive medical care to in-patients and out-patients.
- Financial management by effective and efficient use of resources.
- Adhere to requirements for all people management matters.
- Create a learning environment for junior staff and students, both under and postgraduate.
- Provide outreach and support services at district level.
- Coordination of relevant clinical governance and administrative requirements.
- Complete and submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
- Complete the required CPD activities to maintain registration with the HPCSA.
