Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Paediatrics (or equivalent).
- Completed formal training in genomics, evidenced by relevant courses or postgraduate certification.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work well within a diverse group including clinicians, counsellors and scientists.
- Commitment to learning all aspects of medical genetics Experience and interest in teaching medical genetics.
- Commitment to relevant research.
- Ability to communicate with patients and families.
- An interest in and commitment to counseling.
- in a relevant clinical, scientific or counselling field.
Responsibilities
- The clinical service includes patient management (medical care and genetic counselling) for genetic and congenital disorders, and liaison with the genetics laboratories.
- Clinical management of patients and families with or at risk of birth defects and genetic disorders.
- Participation in teaching medical genetics at different levels (undergraduates and other health care personnel).
- Participation in outreach and support programmes as it relates to genetics services Competent quality of care including clinical administration and audit.
- Conduct medical genetic research.
