Minimum Requirements
- Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
- Willingness to work shifts, day and night duty, weekends, overtime and public holidays to meet the operational requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape. Skills to plan, organise & coordinate the service by analysing, problem solving & decision making. Leadership towards the realisation of strategic goals and objectives of the Trauma & Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality patient care regarding the identification of nursing care needs, the planning & implementation of nursing care plans and the education of nursing personnel as a Professional Nurse in the Trauma & Emergency department.
- Render and supervise specialized clinical nursing care and support clinical staff with surgical & medical procedures.
- Utilize human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain & promote professional growth/ethical standards and development of self & others.
- Display of core values of the Department of Health WCG in the execution of duties, while practising within the legislation, regulations and protocols applicable to the public service.
