Minimum Requirements
- Sound knowledge and understanding of nursing and health service-related acts, legislation, policies and practices. Problem solving, report writing, liaison and facilitation skills. Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and use of Internet.
- Willingness to work shifts including weekends, public holidays and night duty. Willingness to rotate within ICU. Ability to lift and turn patients, stand for long hours and lift heavy equipment.
- Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
Responsibilities
- Provide an optimal, holistic, specialised Nursing Care within set standards and within a professional, legal framework as a professional Nurse in ICU.
- Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
- Utilise human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in research and training and development of community, staff and students to achieve optimal health care and rehabilitation of trauma and emergency patients.
- Deliver an effective outreach service.
- Assist with administrative duties, e.g. data collation and reporting.
