Engineering learners gain practical boilermaking experience inside industrial refinery workshops.

Impala Platinum Holdings Limited is inviting engineering students to apply for its Boilermaker Engineering Learnership Programme, a long-term artisan training opportunity that prepares learners for careers in the mining and refinery sector.

The programme will be hosted at Impala Platinum Refineries in Springs, Gauteng, where learners will complete structured technical training and workplace experience over 42 months.

Applications close on 11 March 2026, with the programme scheduled to begin in August 2026.

Training Programme for Future Mining Artisans

The engineering learnership is designed to help develop qualified boilermaker artisans who can support operations within the mining and refining industry.

Participants will work in a real industrial environment while learning the practical skills required to pass the Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate administered under the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).

The programme combines classroom-based technical knowledge with workplace training.

What Learners Will Be Trained In

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following academic requirements.

Completed N2 Certificate or NCV Level 4 in Boilermaking

N2 subjects must include

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Structural Steel Drawing
  • Plater Trade Theory

Applicants must also

  • Demonstrate understanding of boilermaking trade principles
  • Be medically fit to work in refinery plant environments
