Volkswagen Group South Africa: Temporary Project Engineer Positions now Open

The Volkswagen Group is seeking 3 Temporary Project Engineers to join their Logistics Department in Kariega. In this role, you will focus on optimizing material flow to support Production, P&A, as well as Localization and Export projects.

You will engage in planning, designing, and developing handling facilities and logistics systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Logistics Material Flow Concepts: Plan and prepare detailed logistics material flow concepts for production and warehouse environments.
  • Facility Design: Prepare layouts, drawings, and specifications for logistics facilities like stillages, pallets, and racking systems.
  • Project Management: Define project plans, coordinate requirements, and monitor project progress.
  • Supplier Interaction: Prepare inquiry requests to obtain quotations from suppliers and negotiate contracts.
  • Budget Management: Prepare budget justifications for capital expenditures and develop packaging specifications.
  • Contract Specification: Draft and update Logistics Material Handling Contract specifications.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or Purchasing.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics processes within a manufacturing environment.
    • At least 18 months’ experience in project management.

Essential Skills

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure.
  • Planning and Organization: Good planning and decision-making skills to meet deadlines.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in producing, understanding, and interpreting 3D CAD drawings.
  • Computer Literacy: Full proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word) and advanced Excel skills.

Added Advantages

  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems in Supply Chain Management.
  • Proficiency in the German language.
