Purpose of the Job
The primary responsibility of the NPE Operators is to assemble non-electric delay initiation systems using manual assembly machines.
Key Accountabilities
As an NPE Operator, your responsibilities will include:
- Crimping & Blocking: Handling explosives safely.
- Coiling of Shock Tubes: Preparing materials for assembly.
- Sealing & Tagging: Ensuring that all products are properly sealed and tagged.
- Explosives Packaging: Packaging finished products according to specifications.
- Product Assembly: Assembling various products as per specifications outlined on the lot traveler, with competency required on multiple assembly machines (crimping, coiling, sealing, tagging).
- Quality Checks: Performing quality checks on assembled products to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Stock Count: Conducting stock counts of raw materials in the production area.
- Packing Units: Bundling, counting, and packing assembled units into boxes as specified.
- Housekeeping: Maintaining cleanliness in the assembly area.
- Measurements: Using measuring tools (e.g., Vernier caliper) to ensure specifications are met and capturing data accurately.
- Equipment Adjustment: Adjusting machine settings according to product specifications.
- Reporting: Reporting daily production and breakdowns and manually updating production graphs.
Requirements
- Formal Education: Grade 12; Mathematics and Science will be an added advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months experience in explosives manufacturing; plant-specific experience is a plus.
