The University of South Africa (Unisa) is inviting qualified individuals to apply for the position of Independent Contractors (Markers) to provide assessment services for the academic year. This role is essential in supporting Unisa’s assessment strategy aligned with its Curriculum Policy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute assessment tasks professionally
- Ensure adherence to Unisa’s tuition, assessment, examination, and plagiarism policies
- Mark assessments fairly and consistently
- Meet all deadlines for assigned tasks
- Attend marker meetings and submit marking reports promptly
- Maintain confidentiality regarding assessment tasks
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification equivalent to NQF Level 9 (MINF) or NQF Level 10 (PhD) in Information Science, with specializations such as user education, knowledge management, ICT in libraries, or records management
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of assessment practices and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Digital literacy and proficiency in online marking tools (experience with Moodle is an advantage)
Recommendations:
- Personal computer/laptop and reliable internet access (Unisa does not provide equipment)
- Advanced English communication skills
- Friendly, patient, and sensitive to a diverse student body
