The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) invites applications for its 2025 Bursary Support Programme aimed at assisting disadvantaged students in pursuing tertiary education.

About CRET
Founded in 2000, the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust is an independent Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) that provides holistic bursary support. Since its inception, CRET has helped produce over 230 university graduates and has supported more than 380 unemployed youth through various skills development initiatives, including training in drone piloting, aviation support services, health and safety, firefighting, bricklaying, coding, cybersecurity, and plumbing.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CRET bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen aged between 16 and 27 years.
- Demonstrable financial need (household income below R650,000 per annum).
- Current matriculants or undergraduate students already enrolled at a recognized South African learning institution.
- Applicants must provide a strong motivation for their application.
- Must have applied or registered for study in one of the following undergraduate fields:
- Sciences (excluding MBChB)
- Technology
- Engineering
- Commerce and Finance
- Education
- Scarce/critical skills training (e.g., boiler making, welding, plumbing, occupational health and safety, renewable energy, waste management, green technology, entrepreneurship).
Bursary Benefits
The CRET bursary covers:
- Tuition fees.
- Textbooks and other study materials.
- Accommodation.
- Meals.
- A monthly living allowance.
- Transport costs where required.
