Generic Requirements:

  • Applicant must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
  • be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) on at least NQF 4; National Certificate (Vocational);
  • be proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English; *Must be a South African citizen;
  • Must have no previous criminal/departmental convictions or criminal or departmental cases pending;
  • Be in possession of a light motor vehicle licence ;
  • Must not have any visible tattoos when wearing the SAPS summer uniform;
  • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
  • Strong computer literacy, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal communication skills for interviewing and public speaking, excellent leadership skills, good project management skills and research report writing skills are essential for the post.
  • Applicant must be able to work under pressure and manage several projects simultaneously.

Additional Post Requirements:

  • Applicants must be in possession of a Degree or Diploma (SAQA accredited-NQF Level 6 or higher); in Police Science, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Information Technology or any other relevant field of study;
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the field of the post.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance in research policies, National Instructions, frameworks, standards and guidelines;
  • Assist in research quality management system for originality, language editing, design and printing of research reports;
  • Assist the secretariat of the Research Advisory Committee with all secretariat duties;
  • Assist in receiving and preparing research reports for the Research Advisory Committee;
  • Assist in liaising with external role players in cooperation and participation in research and benchmarking;
  • Management of resources allocated to the sub section
