Diesel Mechanic Vacancy at RCL Foods

RCL FOODS is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join its division in Polokwane. The successful candidate will be responsible for fleet maintenance, preventive servicing, and breakdown assistance for the company’s local delivery fleet.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• N3 National Certificate as a Diesel Mechanic

Experience:

• 4-5 years of experience as a qualified diesel mechanic in a workshop environment
• At least one year in a supervisory role
• Experience working with Toyota and Isuzu Trucks

Licensing:

• Valid C1 Driver’s License with PDP

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules as per manufacturer specifications.
• Attend to vehicle breakdowns during and after work hours.
• Perform auto-electrician repairs where needed.
• Prepare vehicles for Certificate of Fitness (COF) inspections.
• Ensure cost-effective utilization of parts (new & used).
• Monitor fleet fuel consumption and take corrective action.
• Oversee external service providers and assess the quality of services rendered.

People Management

• Allocate tasks effectively within the team.
• Maintain accurate time sheets for all mechanics.
• Ensure good working relationships between workshop staff.
• Manage and address performance issues within the team.
• Enforce company disciplinary code when necessary.

Health & Safety Compliance

• Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the company’s policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workshop.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Conduct vehicle inspections and diagnostic tests.
• Perform preventive maintenance and component upgrades.
• Carry out repairs and replacements for major assemblies and sub-systems.
• Conduct test drives to verify vehicle performance.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Manage inventory and stock supplies for workshop operations.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and maintain shop machinery.
• Stay updated with new technologies and regulations in diesel mechanics.
